Nginx Core Product Development Team, USA

Do you have a passion for innovation and want to help promote progressive products used daily by millions of people on the Internet? Would you like to be part of shipping groundbreaking technology for cloud-native, hybrid-cloud, and traditional on-premises large-scale systems and web applications? Are you an advocate of strong engineering culture and continuous learning?

About the team and projects

Our mission is to create a software-based data plane for modern applications: web servers and application servers, API gateways and load-balancers, reverse proxies and caching proxies. We create software that million+ of engineers use to serve the needs of billion+ of people.

We believe that solid engineering culture helps us create great open-source tools and commercial software on top of them that developers love and platform operations teams need. By thoroughly designing, coding, reviewing, testing, and documenting, we build scalable, high-performing, and secure software.

The Nginx core product development team works on the Nginx, Nginx Plus, Unit, njs, and other projects. Nginx is a well-known open-source web server and proxy. Nginx Plus is commercial software that adds enterprise-grade features like high availability, observability, security, API, health checks, advanced load balancing features, and more to the capabilities of the Nginx. Unit is open-source software that acts as a multi-language application server, web server, and reverse proxy. And njs is an open-source JavaScript-based scripting language that allows extending Nginx, Nginx Plus, and Unit functionality.

Our software runs on any modern Unix-like OS and supports different architectures. Its core is written in C with minimum external dependencies and focuses on high performance, low latency, and scalability.

We are looking for a passionate software engineer to build proxy capabilities and help us drive excellent products further.

The Nginx core development team has members in the US, Europe, UAE, and China. We collaborate with other software engineering teams who build their products on top of our software. We also work with professional services, product management, customer support, community and alliances, and technical marketing teams.
