Job Description

This role will support the testing requirements for software developed and maintained by Verisk Maplecroft’s Technology team.  This covers a range of projects and technologies including DataX and GRiD. 

The DataX project is Verisk Maplecroft’s data storage and monitoring platform, written largely in the Python programming language and hosted on AWS.  GRiD is Verisk Maplecroft’s web-based data delivery platform based on the Angular web framework and the Django Rest Framework.  Both projects are presently in active development by Agile based project teams in the UK and are presently supported by a part-time test engineer who works across both projects.

The Test Engineer role will be flexible, detail-oriented, and skilled at working with internal customers (Software and Product Team). The Tester will champion the quality of our data and products via automated and manual tests, quality assurance and regression testing as well as being proactive in reporting and verifying bugs and/or data errors.

The Test Engineer will:

• Work closely with the UK-based Technical Project Manager to create test strategies and plans  that provide acceptable coverage for a given dataset or product

• Attend requirement gathering meetings with Product and Stakeholders to better understand business needs, functionality and system requirements

• Work in an Agile delivery methodology

• Provide regular and open communication across the program for transparency of progress and roadblocks

• Take ownership of test processes and implementing them

• Coordinate with the Technical Lead and UK Technical Project Manager to align tests with requested timelines

• Produce detailed testing documents, including test scripts to automate and rapidly perform testing iteratively

Qualifications

Required:

• At least 3 years of software testing experience which includes automated testing

• Excellent and proven Troubleshooting skills

• Experience configuring, deploying and testing software updates

• Demonstrable experience in either Postman, Selenium or Playwright

• Ability to identify issues and escalate as appropriate

• Ability to understand propagation of data through environments and components

• Familiarity working with APIs providing structured data

• Ability to communicate technical matters effectively to a variety of Stakeholders

• Familiarity working in an Agile environment and with Atlassian products, such as JIRA

• Fluency and clarity in spoken and written English, being able to concisely communicate technical ideas internally and to UK/US staff 

Nice to have:

• Programming experience in language such as Python, Django
