Software Systems Engineer

WWC Federal is seeking a Software Systems Engineer for a contract within the Department of Energy at Sandia National Laboratories in support of Enterprise Computing.

Duties and Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Participate in software development projects that are focused on development and deployment of data into on-premises and cloud environments.

  • Partner in the analysis/documentation/development/implementation of software system requirements that support the business/mission systems needed by IT customers.

  • Investigate, design, develop, test, and analyze software systems and applications.

  • Implement software solutions that may be commercial-off-the-shelf or internally developed.

  • Participate in planning of system and development deployment, including responsibility for meeting software compliance and quality standards.

Expected salary range $120,000 - $145,000

Work Environment:

  • Moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phone and printers) and /or occasional Loud noise (airfield, large equipment).

  • Ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period of time.

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to sit, stand, talk, and hear.

  • Employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers to operate a computer.

Travel:

  • 0-10% / Minimal travel expected: offsites, meetings, training, a conference.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related field.

  • Ability to pass a federal background investigation including fingerprinting.

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in the following:

  • Experience with SDLC: planning, defining, designing, building, testing, and deployment of applications/tools, or data-related products in a production environment.

  • Experience developing software using Windows and/or Linux OS environments.

  • Experience with backend server programming languages and frameworks (Example - .NET, Java (J2EE, Spring, etc.), Python (Django, Flask, etc.))

  • Working knowledge of Systems Engineering, ITIL best practices, and Scrum/Agile delivery.

  • Experience with use of code repositories and agile lifecycle tools and techniques.

  • Experience with software engineering in Microsoft Azure or other cloud vendor environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • DOE-L Clearance.

  • Demonstrated ability to participate in large complex IT projects.

  • Ability to thrive in a matrixed teaming environment with a strong customer service ethic.

  • Demonstrated ability to review software designs with business owners and ensure alignment of design and development activities with project/customer business requirements.

  • Experience architecting and developing new solutions to integrate with existing on-prem infrastructure and cloud services.

  • Experience with Angular front-end development, React, or Vue.

  • Experience with any of the following: REST, SOAP, RPC, AJAX, WebSockets, etc.

  • Experience with claim-based authentication – OAUTH.

  • Experience with Virtual Machine automation/containerization.
