Software Engineer (Python)

We’re looking for a talented Junior Software Engineer (Python) to to focus on Analytics Reporting Automation within our innovative Data Science & Analytics (DS&A) team.  This role will suit candidates within their first couple of years looking for an exciting new opportunity.  

This is a unique role within DS&A where you have the opportunity to build an automation platform using a modern data technology stack. You will have the support of our established software engineering group. 

The ideal candidate will be comfortable within all aspects of software development. Additionally, they can operate independently while being able to seek out support or guidance when appropriate.

What You Will Do:

• Establish a development roadmap

• Participate in planning activities with the project lead and other stakeholders

• Design, implement and test features

• Demo software to stakeholders and record their feedback

• Manage the deployment of new features to beta and live environments

• Gain exposure to our full software stack, using primarily Open-Source software

What We’re Looking For:

• 1-2 years of experience

• Passionate and enthusiastic about technology and able to demonstrate a broad technical knowledge

• Willingness to learn and adapt to new technology platforms.  We use a number of different technologies to deliver different platforms and products. Technologies in use include:

• Core programming languages: Python, Javascript, Java

• Web backend frameworks: Django, Alfresco, Spring

• Web frontend technologies: React.js, Backbone.js, Bootstrap, SCSS, Selenium, Webpack

• Analytics platforms: Snowflake, Looker

• Desire to work in a highly collaborative environment and participate fully in agile software development processes

• Aptitude for identifying and solving problems
