Software Engineer Advisor

The engineer is responsible for the delivery of a business need end-to-end starting from understanding the requirements to deploying the software into production. This role requires you to be fluent in some of the critical technologies with proficiency in others and have a hunger to learn on the job and add value to the business. Critical attributes of being a full stack engineer among others is Ownership & Accountability.

In addition to Delivery, the full stack engineer should have an automation first and continuous improvement mindset.  He/She should drive the adoption of CI/CD tools and support the improvement of the tool sets/processes.

The focus of this individual will be to create, in a collaborative fashion, efficient and effective strategies and solution architectures to solve problems in the real world.  This person will also help with mentoring team members to become full stack engineers.  Our teams focus on solutions revolving around pharmacies, pharmaceuticals, and, most importantly, patients; the solutions we provide drive our ability to provide affordable access to medications in a controlled, efficient, and responsible manner. 

The teams utilize Big Data tools, with a focus on cloud platforms, to improve on analytics.  Through a hands-on engineering approach, this individual will develop patterns, processes, and applications which enable many other scrum teams to tackle the big data and data science problems.  You will understand business requirements and work with cross-org teams.  You will influence all aspects of the system from data ingestion utilizing big data methodologies to solving business problems through application development while focusing on security, fault tolerance and scalability.  

Must be a current contractor with Cigna Healthcare, Evernorth Health Services, or one of their subsidiaries.

Qualifications:

  • Must be a current contractor with Cigna Healthcare, Evernorth Health Services, or one of their subsidiaries.

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.

  • College degree preferred.

  • 1+ years being part of Agile teams – Scrum or Kanban

  • 1+ years of working in an object-oriented language: Python, Go, Rust, R, Scala, or other OO compiled language.

  • Cloud infrastructure experience (AWS or other).

  • 1+ years in Web development frameworks like React, Angular, other Node.js based systems, Django, React-native, etc.

  • 1+ years of scripting (JavaScript, Bash, R, etc.)

  • 2+ years of database – SQL.

  • Experience with Git/SVN.

  • Experience with big data technologies a plus, such as Hadoop, Teradata, etc.

  • Excellent troubleshooting skills.

  • Strong communication skills.

  • Fluent in BDD and TDD development methodologies.

  • Work in an agile CI/CD environment (Jenkins experience a plus).

  • Knowledge and/or experience with Health care information domains is a plus.


If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.

For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 100,500 - 167,500 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.

This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
