Are you passionate and knowledgeable about music and audio technology?
Are you excited about innovation, team development, and the âbig pictureâ?
If youâve answered yes to all the above, weâd love to hear from you! Our already successful Automation Team is currently increasing its scope, working with more development teams across the business. Weâre looking for the right person to join the team, write great quality code, and work with us as we navigate the next stage of team growth.
This role would suit someone who has experienced successful scaling of a development team and is looking for a new opportunity to put that experience into practice.
What youâll be doing
Reporting to the QA Manager, you will join an Automation Team that has collective responsibility for supporting the QA Engineers working across the Focusrite, Novation, and Focusrite Pro brands.
Working within this team, you will take your own areas of responsibility within a mature code base and contribute innovative solutions to improve test efficiency and coverage, primarily across our hardware product portfolio. You will also be mindful of the longer-term evolution of the team, using your experience to help us as we engage with new opportunities across the wider Engineering Department.
Key activities include:
Maintaining and enhancing existing automated test code, developing new features to support the QA and development teams
Devising innovative ways to solve problems, and increase the efficiency and impact of our automated test solutions
Working with the team to develop and maintain a strategy for automation, ensuring that this aligns with the needs of the QA Team, and our product roadmap
Engaging in, and helping to evolve software development best practice, learning from, and working with other teams within the business
Providing support, guidance, and mentoring to less experienced developers in the team
An ideal candidate is likely to be:
A Python Software Developer in Test (or developer from a test automation background), with 5+ years of professional experience writing clear, well-documented, maintainable code
Passionate and knowledgeable about music and audio/MIDI technology
Comfortable working on and debugging large code bases
Familiar with automated testing solutions for hardware, embedded firmware, and device drivers
An established professional, with a passion for developing, mentoring, and supporting others
Experienced with databases (e.g. MySQL), distributed version control (e.g. Git), and continuous integration
An advocate for development best practice (e.g. branching, code review, pair programming)
A clear communicator, with a proven track record of technical problem solving and stakeholder management
Self-motivated, with the vision and desire to make improvements to things
I donât have all the experience youâve asked for, should I still apply?
Our priority is to find the right fit for the team, and for the company, and weâll always do what we can to support individual development. In other words, if you donât quite have all the experience listed above, weâd still be interested in hearing from you. Let us know what youâd bring to the role, and why youâd be a great fit for the team.
