Hybrid in London or Leeds, UK
We’re looking for a Senior Technical Recruiter (12-month Fixed Term Contract)
You’ll hire exceptional people and help build effective tech teams that solve real business problems. You’ll advise hiring managers, shape decision-making with data, and collaborate with leadership on our tech hiring strategy.
The company
Imagine a world where every small business has the power to thrive. That's the world we're building at iwoca. Small businesses aren't just statistics – they're the heartbeat of our communities, the character of our high streets, and the engine of our economy. Since 2012, we've revolutionised how these businesses access finance, turning what was once a lengthy, frustrating process into something remarkable: funding that's fast, flexible, and actually works for modern businesses.
Our impact speaks for itself: we've provided billions in funding to over 150,000 businesses across Europe, making us one of the continent's leading fintech innovators. But we're just getting started. Our mission? To empower one million businesses with the financial tools they deserve.
We combine cutting-edge technology and data science with genuine human understanding to make finance feel less like a barrier and more like a superpower. Whether it's managing cash flow or seizing unexpected opportunities, we ensure businesses get the funds they need – often within minutes.
The team
The Tech Talent team builds iwoca’s Tech, Analytics, and Product teams. We take a data-led approach that values quality, fairness, transparency, and consistency. We use Ashby, LinkedIn Recruiter, and Welcome to the Jungle (Otta), and we’re encouraged to experiment - with GenAI tools, sourcing automation, and new workflows - to improve how we hire, by prioritising calibre over headcount.
The role
You’ll run hiring processes across iwoca’s Tech, Analytics, and Product teams - from sourcing through to interviews, offers, and pre-boarding. You’ll work closely with hiring managers and senior leaders to make sure we hire people who raise the bar.
Own the full hiring process:
You’ll run end-to-end hiring campaigns for technical roles.
Identify, contact, and engage top-tier engineers, data scientists, and product managers.
Use data to decide where to focus and how to adjust your approach.
Keep hiring on track by managing pipelines, timelines, and candidate experience.
Advise and challenge hiring managers:
You’ll bring structure and good judgement to every decision.
Help define what “good” looks like for each role and team.
Set clear standards, share evidence, and push back when needed.
Run structured interviews that test both technical and communication skills.
Improve how we hire:
You’ll spot problems early and make things better.
Test and refine sourcing methods and tools.
Use metrics and feedback to improve process quality and reduce bias.
Help build a consistent, scalable approach to hiring across the team.
The requirements
Essential:
At least 10 years’ experience hiring back-end engineers, ideally in high-growth, product-focused environments. You’ve recruited for roles using technologies like Python, Django, Rust, Golang, and relational databases.
Confident assessing the complexity and impact of a candidate’s work - not just what they built, but how and why it mattered.
Comfortable running semi-technical interviews that test how candidates apply knowledge, explain their thinking, and collaborate in practice.
Proven track record of building technical teams in fast-paced companies where priorities shift quickly.
Organised and pragmatic - able to prioritise across multiple roles while keeping documentation and hiring data accurate.
Attention to detail when working with Google Sheets, ATS dashboards, and reporting tools - used to track progress, present insights, and support objective hiring decisions.
Emotionally intelligent - able to build trust through active listening, thoughtful questions, and clear communication with candidates and stakeholders.
Proficient with Applicant Tracking Systems (ideally Ashby) to manage pipelines, automate workflows, and keep hiring visible and on track.
Bonus:
Experience hiring for other technical roles such as data scientists (especially those using probabilistic models), data engineers, product managers, or front-end/full-stack developers.
Willing to test new tools or sourcing methods and adapt based on what works.
Comfortable using data to understand what’s working and suggest improvements.
Fluent with AI tools that support sourcing or decision-making.
The salary
We expect to pay from £70,000 - £90,000 for this role. But, we’re open-minded, so definitely include your salary goals with your application. We routinely benchmark salaries against market rates, and run quarterly performance and salary reviews.
The culture
At iwoca, we prioritise a culture of learning, growth, and support, and invest in the professional development of our team members. We value diversity in thought and skill, and encourage you to explore new areas of interest to help us improve our products and services.
