What you'll do

The Operational Automation team are a small highly experienced team in both networking and programming who work to deliver automations to other operational teams, to improve day to day efficiency, fault-fix times, and to remove human error from daily repetitive tasks. The tools developed are critical to the running of these operational teams and the support of the Sky Broadband, Talk, and Mobile networks.

  • Engage with key partners to understand business objectives and support these objectives through the best use of sophisticated analytics approaches.

  • Develop inhouse build software with Python to automated daily manual tasks to maintain and fix the core SKY broadband network.

  • Develop automation within a BPM tool called Resolve using Python & Groovy from initial concept through to a completed solution.

  • Contributing to identifying the best analytical techniques, developing the solution, and crafting a framework for testing the solution

  • Work with technical authorities in their field to document processes and design tools.

  • Engage with other data scientists, software engineers, data engineers and network engineers to build compliant, efficient, and scalable solutions

  • Deploy and maintain the adopted end-to-end solutions.

What you'll bring

  • Strong Python programming background

  • Ability to fix, debug applications written in Python / Groovy, and to a lesser extent other languages

  • Software engineering experience, can deliver code in well-tested CI/CD pipelines

  • Experience using SQL for data extraction for analysis & feature developments

  • Shown commercial experience in crafting, deploying, testing and maintaining with Resolve Python & Groovy

  • Excellent team collaboration, the ability to proactively research and solve issues in a timely manner

  • Ability to quickly understand a business objective, research the appropriate analytical solution and apply it into production to address the given objective

Nice-to-have:

  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies

  • Expertise in Correlation Analysis, Classification / Clustering, Anomaly Detection and Unsupervised Learning using either traditional or deep learning online/offline ML approaches

  • Networking / Telecommunications knowledge

  • Strong academic & technical background - Bachelors / Master's Degree
