As a Senior Python Engineer, you will work on and lead projects with a focus on our Prefect 2.0 workflow orchestration platform. You will help advance our platform by developing new features, patterns, and frameworks that scale our Python library and hosted offerings.
You will coordinate with team members, including our CTO and CEO, on new features and help Prefect build our product roadmap. You will identify opportunities for improvement, and track risks and dependencies. You will be a mentor and provide leadership to other members of the engineering team.
We expect our engineers to be product-focused, enthusiastic to take on new challenges, and lead our product and culture forward. You will be an enthusiastic champion for user empathy across all our products and support our users through multiple support channels.
You will report to our Engineering Manager, Jenny.
Design and build new features, patterns, and frameworks for our Prefect 2.0 open-source application and Python library
Guide our open-source projects, engage with our community, and always try to promote our internal user empathy by promoting use cases
Ensure our internal codebases remain well tested, easily extensible, and documented
Embody ownership: contribute and advocate for your ideas, while also preventing projects from failing
5+ years of experience working with Python, including asyncio, automated testing frameworks, concurrency, and ORMs
Experience with cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP — but not necessarily all of those!)
Experience deploying and monitoring Kubernetes applications
Experience delivering projects from creation to production
Experience working with and maintaining databases (preferably PostgreSQL)
Experience contributing to open-source projects

The U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $168,000-$215,000. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and work location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Your recruiter can share more about the salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process. Please keep in mind that equity is not included in the range provided above and will represent a significant part of your total compensation. Benefits and any bonus or incentive compensation is also not included in the range provided above.
