Senior Python Platform Engineer
Are you passionate about building cloud-native Python services that power real-time industrial intelligence?
At Orderfox, you’ll design, build, and scale the core services, data APIs, and deployment pipelines that keep manufacturing insights flowing. You’ll ship production-grade Python, make pragmatic architecture calls, and pair-program with AI copilots to move faster and smarter.
Tasks
What You Can Expect in This Role
Develop cloud-native services– FastAPI/async back ends, gRPC & REST APIs, event-driven workers
Shape service design– keep modules clean, write ADRs, profile performance
Integrate with the data platform – partner with the data team on ingestion, semantic search & feature APIs
Automate delivery – create CI/CD with GitHub Actions, Docker, Helm & Terraform; deploy on AKS
Champion observability & quality – structured logging, metrics, tracing, PyTest, Great Expectations
Leverage AI pair programming – daily Copilot / Cursor / Claude usage, prompt craft, safety checks
Collaborate - report directly to the CTO and work closely with the Lead Data Architect
Requirements
What Helps You Get Started
5+ years of professional Python 3.x (asyncio, type hints, Pydantic, PyTest)
Hands-on experience with Azure (Functions, Container Apps/AKS, Cosmos DB, Event Hubs, Managed Postgres)
Familiarity with microservices, event sourcing, CQRS & caching
SQL & NoSQL mastery – Postgres, Redis, vector/graph/document stores; query optimisation
Streaming & messaging – Kafka/Pulsar and Azure Service Bus or Event Hubs
CI/CD & DevOps – GitHub, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform/BicepAI-augmented development – practical Copilot, Cursor, or Claude usage; can demonstrate productivity gains & governance

Direct employment – if you’re in Switzerland, or an EU/EFTA citizen ready to relocate, we can hire you full-time
Independent contracting – if you’re already self-employed in Switzerland or abroad, we can team up on a freelance contract
Employer of record (EoR) – when neither option fits, we partner with a trusted EoR to hire you locally and handle compliance.
Because we work on Central European Time, you’ll need to be within ± 2 hours (UTC 0 – UTC +3) to keep collaboration live and productive. Occasional office drop-ins are very welcome.
