Senior Front End Developer - Production Tools

Framestore is an Oscar, Bafta, and Emmy award-winning global creative company working in film, advertising, AR/MR/VR, theme park dark rides, and pre/post visualisation work among many other creative endeavours.

Our Software and Research division is currently looking for a Senior Front-End Web Developer to work in our Production Tools team.  As a senior developer in Production Tools, you will be exposed to various in-house web-based products developed to assist our worldwide team of producers and artists in their pursuit of telling amazing stories!

These in-house products include (but are not limited to):

  • Products for handling production economics at a large scale - crewing, resourcing and bidding of complex films, episodic and immersive projects

  • Solutions for business analytics, storage, computing and resource management

  • Content delivery and review tools for clients

  • Digital asset libraries

About You:

You are an experienced, self-motivated web developer with a passion for producing great front-end code to present complex data in powerful ways. You enjoy working with stakeholders, product managers, and experienced designers to help build great products. You are passionate about collaborating with, leading, and mentoring members of your team to help guide them to deliver high-quality solutions. You have strong communication and collaboration skills and enjoy helping others grow. You are a pragmatic problem solver and like to challenge yourself with building suitable scalable and high-performing applications.


You Will:

  • Create beautiful and intuitive web applications

  • Steer the architecture and design of our products

  • Lead the development process through all parts of the technology stack

  • Collaborate effectively with product managers, designers, engineers, stakeholders, and vendors on projects

  • Mentor other Software engineers via code review and an inclusive planning process

  • Play a key role in our Agile process by contributing to Sprint reviews and setting an example to the junior members of the team

What we’re looking for:

  • Ability to work in a structured agile development environment

  • Strong understanding and skills with:

    • JavaScript

    • React

    • REST/CRUD APIs

    • Design frameworks such as Bootstrap

  • Experience mentoring junior members of a software team

  • Strong communication skills, ability to work with non-technical stakeholders

  • Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field

  • Experience working with the Linux operating system

  • Around 5 years of industry experience

You might also have:

  • Proven ability with UX, application design and design systems

  • Containerised application development and deployment using Docker

  • Experience writing technical briefs and user documentation

  • Python web frameworks such as Django

  • Experience working with Agile processes

  • MySQL/PostgreSQL Database design and development

  • Worked in visual effects or similar industry

  • AWS/GCP/Azure Cloud services
