Senior Data Engineer

Who are we looking for?

As a Senior Data Engineer at uMed, you will play a vital role in architecting, implementing, and deploying highly scalable data platforms. You will leverage your expertise in SQL, AWS and Python to build robust and efficient data systems that power our innovative healthcare platform. We are seeking a motivated self-starter who is eager to learn and adapt to our unique tech stack, and who thrives in a collaborative environment where open communication and teamwork are highly valued.


What will you be doing?

  • Collaborate with key members of the R&D team to design and develop highly scalable data platforms, ensuring optimal data access, security, and reliability.

  • Utilize your strong SQL expertise to write complex DML and DDL queries, extracting valuable insights from large datasets.

  • Architect and optimize data flow and collection processes for cross-functional teams, enhancing data accessibility and usability.

  • Develop and maintain data delivery architectures, ensuring consistency across the platform.

  • Apply data engineering principles, including data modeling, ETL processes, and data warehousing, to effectively manage and transform data.

  • Leverage your strong coding skills in Python to build robust and efficient data pipelines.

  • Actively learn and adapt to our unique tech stack, bridging any knowledge gaps quickly and independently.

  • Foster open communication within the team, asking questions, seeking help when needed, and contributing to a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment.

  • Engage in productive discussions and debates with the team, actively contributing to innovative ideas and solutions.

  • Maintain a strong focus on quality, adhering to data engineering best practices and coding standards.

  • Bachelor's degree in computing or equivalent industry experience.

  • Strong SQL expertise, with the ability to write complex DML and DDL queries.

  • Proficiency in building highly scalable data platforms, with experience in AWS. Knowledge of Spark and Redshift is particularly advantageous.

  • Solid understanding of data engineering principles, including data modeling, ETL processes, and data warehousing.

  • Strong coding skills in Python, with experience in developing efficient data pipelines. Experience with Django is highly desirable.

  • Motivated learner who can quickly grasp new concepts and technologies, adapting to our unique tech stack.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Comfortable asking questions, admitting when clarification is needed, and actively seeking help and guidance.
