Senior Data Analyst

Energy Aspects currently have an exciting opportunity available for a Senior Data Analyst to join our Data Team based out of our London office. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced analyst or aspiring technical/data-focused specialist to work closely with our highly regarded global oil, natural gas, and energy teams, optimizing our data content and capabilities.


The successful candidate will contribute to building and maintaining models and data products for both internal use and external clients. You will spend much of your time working with data, putting your technical and analytical skills to good use.

Duties

  • Taking full ownership of projects, from data collection to modeling and deployment.

  • Building and maintaining products at a quality level consistent with client-facing products.

  • Working on delivering models through web-based applications, experience preferred but not compulsory, however a keen interest in learning these technologies from our team is necessary.

  • Understanding analyst requirements and delivering solutions to answer market questions.

  • Proposing and implementing market models. Managing the relationship with key users of these models.

  • Supporting a range of strategic, company-level data initiatives like APIs and ad-hoc client requests.

Requirements

  • Value-driven and a can-do attitude. We are a fast-growing company which creates a lot of opportunities for growth but also requires us to deliver on a wide range of tasks.

  • Python:

- Able to write production-level code. Excellent understanding of best practices.

- Experience building forecasting and analytical models (Pandas, scikit learn, statsmodels, TensorFlow…)

- Experience communicating around data and models with technical and non-technical people using presentation and charting tools (Seaborn, Plotly, Matplotliob).

  • SQL:

- Advanced querying skills.

- Design and creation of databases, tables and indexes.

- Experience importing, exporting, and migrating data within databases.

  • Ability to own and deliver projects involving stakeholders with a wide range of technical capabilities.

  • Ability to guide more junior staff members to help them make a meaningful contribution toward projects.

  • Attention to detail in both handling data and written English.

Desirable Skills

  • Use of cloud data platforms (Google Cloud, AWS).

  • Use of web development tools is not essential but would be advantageous (Flask / Dash is our stack).

  • Energy sector experience is not essential but would be advantageous.

  • An interest in commodities, energy, or financial markets would be beneficial.
