We founded Holvi in 2011, in Helsinki. As self-employed people wading through oceans of paperwork, we noticed something funny going on – traditional banks were giving us the cold shoulder. Why not help ourselves? We asked. And so, with time and effort (and lots of coffee), we mastered small business finance – and Holvi was born.
Our vision is simple: Eliminate the distractions of financial admin and simplify work life, because running a business is hard enough. Small businesses shouldn’t have to worry about spreadsheets and lost receipts.

Right now, we’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our team. If you want to help us make running a business a little easier, Holvi is for you.
Build a better future for small businesses
As Senior Backend Engineer, you’ll join one of Holvi’s focus teams. We’re a nimble company that’s unafraid to shift our organisational structure to tackle changing priorities. At the moment, our product development team is split into three focus teams:
Customer Lifecycle Management – Continually improving the Holvi experience through ongoing feature development and close work with our Support Team
Payments – Bringing SWIFT transfers and currency conversion to Holvi
Connected Account – Connecting Holvi to accounting softwares and simplifying work life through seamless accounting
Each focus team has its own developers, designers and product owner. As part of our interview process, we’ll explain each team in more detail and chat about which one might fit you best.
A typical day could see you:
Doing software development, from reviews and technical fixes to implementing major new features
Working with the team in dailies, refinements, planning and retrospective meets
Refining the designs and requirements together with the team
Doing technical planning for upcoming features
This is for you if you:
Have solid experience as software engineer, working on APIs and integrations
Like to write readable, maintainable code and design reliable, performant solutions in Python
Are looking forward to working with a tech stack consisting of Python, Django, PostgreSQL as the main technologies
Can refine requirements in an iterative and collaborative manner
Are fluent in English, both spoken and written
It's a plus if you:
Have experience working in a large codebase
Have experience from banking, accounting or other fintech areas
Are familiar with cloud (AWS) and containerisation technologies (Docker), test automation tools and CI/CD pipelines
Have a good understanding of relational databases or data modeling in general

Logistics
This is a full-time position located at our Helsinki office
We offer flexible working hours, with core office hours between 10:00 and 15:00 – the rest is up to you
Ideally, you’ll come to the office at least 2 days a week. However, if you’re located outside the capital area, we’re also willing to consider a fully remote position
