What you will do
We have roles available in the Consumer tribe who report to our Head of Engineering.
Consumer tribe - responsible for the customer journey to subscribe, across our marketing site, mobile app, registration flow, etc
Our core digital product relies on customers using our mobile app to access their cars. Any issues or errors mean that someone can’t use the car correctly and creates a poor customer experience. We are working hard to ensure that our tech creates the best journey for our customers.
As we plan to expand the team over the next few years this role offers a real opportunity for personal growth and for you by becoming a more senior engineer or even moving into more of a leadership role. There will also be an opportunity to explore your passions with internal movement between our squads.
About the Engineering Team: Engineering at Onto is about turning our vision into a reality. We work in collaborative, multidisciplinary teams, supporting each other to do our best work. As the business grows, our systems have to evolve continually to meet the needs of new challenges and opportunities. We seek to delight our users and set the business up for success.
Life as a Python Engineer at Onto:
Develop fast, reliable, efficient, and scalable applications
Architect, test, and release new features in collaboration with Product Owners, UI/UX designers, and other engineers
Identify and resolve scalability and performance issues
Perform code reviews with other engineers
Mentor younger engineers within your squad
Ideally we are looking for:
Experience working with commercial Django applications
You have some experience in designing, testing, refactoring, and amending applications
Has previously reviewed other people's code and pull requests
Has designed and maintained software documentation to ensure that processes and procedures can be easily accessed and understood by other members of the team
Exposure to other basic web technologies like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
Some experience working with at least one cloud-computing platform (we use AWS)
It would be a bonus for you to have knowledge of the below, if not then please still apply:

Containerisation technologies like Docker
