About This Opening
This position is for our European team. We are fully remote, 100% async-first, with flexible working hours — we care about outcomes and we minimize meetings: a single weekly planning meeting organizes the week, and we do not do daily standups.
Decisions are documented in writing so teammates in different time zones can pick up context without a sync.
Check our communication guidelines: https://shiphero.com/careers/c...
Time zone requirement (must-have): As we are looking to expand our European team, you must be based and working from a time zone between UTC and UTC+2. Applications outside this range will be automatically discarded — please do not apply if you don't meet this, regardless of willingness to shift hours.
The Challenges
We're extending our Warehouse Management System into the B2B world, which brings real engineering puzzles around performance at higher volumes and supporting client-specific flows without breaking compatibility with the rest of the WMS. In parallel, we're actively pushing AI deeper into our engineering workflow — code, review, testing, operations — and want teammates who push that frontier with us.
About You
You have experience with AI and have ideas about how to use it to improve our workflow, quality, and effective team work.
5+ years writing Python.
You've built real systems, learned from your mistakes, and understand why tech debt, tests, and CI practices matter.
You review teammates' code thoughtfully and welcome the same in return.
You enjoy mentoring across different skill-sets and believe great things happen when teams work together.
The Role
Work on a cross-functional team to design and ship solutions that are easy to understand, consistent, and scale well.
Own features end-to-end: understand the business need, design, implement, estimate honestly, ship on schedule.
Run code reviews focused on quality, good design, and helping engineers grow.
Optimize the existing stack and chart its next evolution.
Build pragmatic solutions, keep learning, and push those around you to do the same. No 'rock stars' needed.
Compensation
Salary range is $75,000 - $90,000 / year, depending on experience and location.
Full-time, USA contractor contract.
