Zscaler’s purpose-built security platform puts a company’s defenses and controls where the connections occur—the internet—so that every connection is fast and secure, no matter how or where users connect or where their applications and workloads reside.Job DescriptionAs a Principal Software Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, creating, and enhancing multi-tenant systems capable of loading and transforming a large volume of structured and semi-structured fast-moving data.Responsibilities:Design and implement secure, scalable, high-performance and robust data services in distributed data processing platforms using modern Big Data technologies. Maintain and enhance a platform to collect and ingest several billion (and growing) log events from our globally distributed cloud infrastructure and provide actionable insights and visibility to our customers and researchers. Design, extend, and review data architecture, model, flow, and integration – be hands on and involved with every stage of the software development life cycle. Partner with software engineers and data scientists to meet the need of upstream and downstream dependencies. Develop state of the art code – influence/establish the software development culture of the team. Establish standards and best practice for software engineering. Keep up to date with the evolving Big Data technology, share the knowledge across the organization by enabling best practices, standards, governed processes and relevant technologies. Participate in agile/iterative development cycles with emphasis on code quality, supportability, scalability, and performance.Qualifications12+ years of experience in a highly-distributed and enterprise scale mission critical environment Current hands-on experience in building data engineering pipeline with Python (must have) and spark. Experience with functional programming experience with Golang or Java is a plus. Hands-on experience in building and maintaining production data applications, current experience in both relational and distributed columnar date stores. Excellent communication skills with strong computer science fundamentals the ability to understand complex business problems and provide software solutions. Experience with timeseries database, data streaming applications, Kafka, Elastic Search, and more is a plus Working knowledge of cloud infrastructure services on AWS/Hybrid cloud Experience with data serialization techniques and data stores for persisting events Experience working with Apache Kafka, Druid or similar platforms Expertise in creating and maintaining production data pipelines using Airflow/KubeFlow Ability to learn, evaluate, document and adopt new technologiesA Big Plus:Experience working with streaming data processing infrastructure and/or experience with identities and access management systems, like Okta, SAML protocols, and security services Knowledge of OAuth and Privilege Access Management Experience designing and building solutions based on Microservices architecture Experience in implementing services following the REST model Familiarity with modern data science and product analytics tools and techniques such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Machine Learning, and advanced statistics is a plus. Bachelor Degree/or Masters Degree in computer science or equivalent experienceAdditional InformationThe base salary range for this full-time position is $162,500 to $250,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Zscaler’s salary ranges are benchmarked and are determined by role and level.
