Remote, but you must be in the following location
Glacier is a Series A startup based in San Francisco that builds robots and image data collection devices to improve recycling facilities in the following ways:
a robot that identifies and sorts materials inside recycling facilities
an analytics system that tracks recyclables and reports metrics to key stakeholders in the industry.
These technologies are already helping to divert tons of recyclables (literally!) from landfills every day.
We’re thrilled to expand our incredible software engineering team based in San Francisco with our first remote hires.
About us:
Our founders come from Facebook engineering and Bain consulting.
We’re backed by top-tier VCs with extensive technical and industry expertise.
We have a fleet in production and a robust pipeline of upcoming deployments.
Here's where your expertise comes into play:
We are looking for talented software engineers to help us build and scale our image capture and analysis platform. You will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining the software across our edge devices, on-premise and cloud servers, and customer-facing web applications.
Your responsibilities:
Develop and maintain software for our edge devices, server infrastructure, and web applications.
Build and improve the APIs connecting our system components (edge, server, web).
Design and improve the user interfaces that customers use in our web application.
Implement, manage, and optimize data processing and machine learning inference pipelines on our servers.
Troubleshoot problems across the hardware/software stack, from edge devices through the server to the web frontend.
Collaborate with the team to design new features and solve technical challenges.
What You Bring:
3+ years of work experience with relevant programming languages (e.g., Python for backend/edge, JavaScript/TypeScript for frontend).
2+ years developing or consuming APIs (e.g., RESTful APIs).
Experience with backend web frameworks (e.g., Django, Flask, FastAPI) OR frontend frameworks/libraries (e.g., React, NextJS).
Strong problem-solving and debugging abilities.
English Fluency as you will be working with a US based team (B2 or higher)
Nice to have:
Cloud platforms (AWS)
Containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
Database systems (SQL or NoSQL, e.g., PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, ElasticSearch).
Experience working with US companies or clients is a plus
