About Amino

We believe that healthcare should be intuitive and accessible to everyone, and we're dedicated to making that vision a reality.

Amino has built a modern, user-friendly healthcare navigation app that empowers users to make informed and confident decisions around their healthcare. Our engineering team is small but mighty and we are searching for a Full Stack engineer to join us in building and maintaining all parts of our internal tool stack, from administrative UIs to backend services and the infrastructure that powers the platform. We are a growth-mode startup; you'll wear many hats and have an opportunity to impact the work across the organization.

What you will do

The core technologies that Fullstack Engineers at Amino work with are:

  • Python + Flask

  • Postgres

  • Typescript + React

  • SASS + Phenotypes (our design system)

  • AWS + Docker + Jenkins

The "Partner Integrations" wing of our product/engineering organization is made up of full stack engineers that build our implementation tooling, login and onboarding products. Some examples of projects you might work on include:

  • Developing tooling to automate and improve efficiency of onboarding of new customers as we scale

  • Streamline the flow of data from customers, through backend systems to our end users

  • Improve internal access to customer data while adhering to our high standards of confidentiality and access control

  • Adding new security controls to keep our user accounts secure, such as 2-factor authentication

Your skills and experience

If this is you, we believe you'll have a successful engineering career at Amino!

  • You have 2+ years of experience

  • You are self-directed, can work independently yet thrive as a member of a team

  • You welcome and can effectively give critical feedback

  • You value the impact of your work for our users as much as the technology itself

  • You have strong problem solving ability; you’re able to challenge assumptions, approach problems creatively, and can evaluate what others have done in similar situations

  • You’re familiar with or excited about our current stack listed above (and want to help us embrace new technologies in a responsible and maintainable way)

About the Engineering team

We value patience, kindness, and generosity, and we love working in an environment of mutual respect where we are challenged every day. We take time to teach and learn from each other, and practice thorough and thoughtful code reviews to support each other and provide opportunities for knowledge-sharing. We have different backgrounds and levels of expertise, and are unified by our passion for simplifying the complex and making a meaningful impact on the world through our craft. When things go wrong, we look for problems with systems rather than people.

We work on cross-functional teams with product managers and designers to build products from early-stage concepts all the way through to live web products. We work with data engineers to take raw metadata and analyses and turn them into fast, reliable services used by our website and backend products. We ship early and often. We strive for full test coverage to enable us to move quickly and refactor without fear. We make use of continuous integration to automate as much as possible.

We offer

We’re committed to helping you achieve your best work in a supportive, growth-oriented environment. We have seriously big goals, and expectations are high and we’ll equip you with the tools and resources you need to be successful.

  • Expected base salary: $153,000 to $180,000 plus standard company benefits and a generous option grant. Amino values transparency and has included the reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this full-time role at any approved US location. Individual pay is determined by a range of factors, including job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, licensure or certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Amino does not typically hire at or near the top of a salary range.

  • We offer full-time employees 100% paid employee healthcare premiums; dependent premium coverage depends on the plan.

  • 401(k) and FSA programs

  • This position, like all roles at the firm, will have a good deal of autonomy. We’re a remote-first team and have designed our culture for a balance of synchronous and asynchronous work with people operating from all over the country. To support your remote office, we provide every new Amino with a generous office set-up allowance plus a monthly stipend for internet/phone.

  • PTO is non accrual and we expect Amino’s to take a minimum of 15 days a year.
