This is a paid internship where you will learn skills and get hands-on experience to help you in your future career.
At the end of the program, all interns have to give a formal presentation about their work. Please note that no relocation assistance or sponsorship is provided for the internship program at this time.

JOB SUMMARY:
Vir Biotechnology is seeking an intern to join our DSO β Engineering team. Interns will be expected to provide support to their assigned projects under the direction of their mentor. Interns will be able to apply classroom-based knowledge to real hands-on projects and gain essential skills needed to be career ready.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES:
Provides entry- to intermediate-level professional services, under supervision of professional staff, as appropriate to the day-to-day operating objectives of the department.
Help define and develop Data Science Application using Python, Flask, ReactJS.
Help define and develop machine learning infrastructure to deploy ML model on AWS.
Work collaboratively with scientists and engineers to understand tactical needs, prototype, and then productionize software to keep experiments moving forward.
Work on multiple projects simultaneously, developing milestones and deadlines in coordination with the broader company goals.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Pursuing BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or Data Science.
Ability to efficiently investigate and solve problems, from prototype development (Python, Flask, ReactJS etc.) to production designs
Strong Python programming expertise required, Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Team-oriented, flexible, able to adapt to rapidly evolving goals and challenges Enthusiasm for drug discovery essential
STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR INTERN/CO-OP POSITIONS:
Commit to an entire session (typically 12 weeks in the summer or fall) and commit to the number of hours needed
Currently enrolled in an accredited college/university
Legally authorized to work in the U.S.
At least 18 years of age before the scheduled start date
If you are assigned to work in the lab areas, please be advised that you may be required or recommended to have your Hep B vaccination, flu vaccine and/or TB testing
Work onsite in our office located in San Francisco
