Backend Python Engineer - Quandri

We’re Quandri. We build AI robots and are on a mission to repurpose 1,000,000 hours to higher and more meaningful work.

Every year, billions of hours are wasted on repetitive and manual work. This is work that can and should be automated, but has been overlooked. Quandri is building robots to fix this.

Our robot fleet enables our customers, currently insurance brokers, to automate many of their most time-consuming and repetitive processes by handing them off to a software robot. These software robots can be deployed into a customer’s software systems and work within their processes similar to how a person would, but at lightning speed and for a fraction of the cost.

We’re beginning by tackling massive problems around repetitive and high-volume work in the insurance industry, but will be expanding outwards to other industries over the next few years where this technology can have an even larger impact. We’ve recently raised venture capital from US and Canadian investors to help us achieve our mission of optimizing the workforce. We're growing fast, and will 10X our annual recurring revenue in 2022 compared to 2021.

We’re a hybrid company, with an office space in Gastown (with an AMAZING view of the North Shore) that we expect people to be at 3 days a week.

About the Role

As a Backend Python Engineer, you will be responsible for building robust, scalable software robots. In this role, you’ll have a direct impact on our products and customers. The work you do will affect customers’ immediately, and you’ll see firsthand how much your work can improve their day-to-day lives.

If you enjoy being challenged, thrive when working autonomously, think with a customer-first mindset and approach problems from a first-principles approach, then this is probably a good fit. If you want to take marching orders, work on small features of massive products and don’t want a high level of direct responsibility, then this probably isn’t a fit.

Our engineers are dedicated to learning, continuous self-improvement, regularly handle support tickets and think long-term about solving problems in the best way for customers.

Experience

We want to meet people with 2-5 years of Python engineering experience, excluding co-ops. Where you went to school and what company you worked for doesn’t matter. It’s more important to us that you are a great problem solver, write high quality code and build from a customer first perspective.

Who we’re looking for

  • Problem solver. As we’re dealing with new technology, you will need to experiment, think creatively and be okay with failing in order to find the right solutions. We’re looking for someone who enjoys this process.

  • High standards. We hold high standards as an organization and expect you to push our standards even higher. While perfection can be the enemy of progress, we do expect very high quality work.

  • Adaptable. As we’re an early stage company, things are constantly changing and it is a fast paced environment. You need to be able to adapt and change with it.

  • Impact. We don’t expect you to be married to your job, but you take it seriously and want to make a big impact. We’re not interested in playing small and want someone who feels the same way.

  • Ownership. You own your work. We never hear you say “that’s not my job.” Of course we’re here to support you every step of the way, but we want people who continually seek more responsibility and thrive in high accountability environments.

Compensation and Benefits

  • $80,000 to $120,000 compensation & employee stock options based on experience level

  • Comprehensive health benefits, including Lifestyle Spending Account

  • Three weeks of paid vacation per year

  • Work anywhere in the world for 60 days of the year

Don’t let imposter syndrome stop you from applying. Great people sometimes don’t have the “right” experience. If you think that you’ll be amazing at this role then apply.
