We’re looking for a talented Backend Engineer to take ownership throughout the product life cycle. You care about the impact of your work on our customers and can communicate your API-based solutions and platform team values to the business. You’re a collaborator eager to work with other high-performing teams to design internal and external platform solutions and excited to understand and impact the inner workings of a growing startup.

The Role

Key Details

  • Salary: £40-60k plus benefits

  • Start date: ASAP

  • Location: UK remote

Main Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain and improve Dines operating system infrastructure

  • Tackle small and mid-sized platform projects from planning through to delivery

  • Perform reviews and offer constructive feedback to team members on their solutions

  • Consider the quality aspects of any given task, whether security or performance related

  • Follow standards-based development practices

  • Communicate effectively and clearly, share knowledge, and ask for guidance when needed

Requirements

  • Significant experience of Python, particularly with Django or Serverless Framework or can demonstrate the ability to learn these domains

  • Excellent knowledge of database development, SQL, or Python ORMs

  • A deep understanding of API development and standards

  • Solid understanding of cloud computing, particularly AWS products

  • Ability to work effectively with distributed and scalable systems

  • Ability to analyse API performance, recommending improvements where necessary

  • Clearly documented solutions, whether through public API documentation, internal wiki-style documents, or code documentation

  • Ability to test solutions clearly and efficiently, and ensure solutions can scale

  • A good understanding of continuous integration systems and how they interact with products
