Backend Developer

As one of the largest entrepreneurship networks globally, Bridge for Billions creates, designs, and manages entrepreneurship programs with foundations, corporations, and public entities that have benefited more than 3,400 entrepreneurs in more than 100 countries. Its objective is to facilitate access to entrepreneurial support for all types of entrepreneurs with a common purpose: to boost innovation that solves the problems that truly matter, generate economic growth, and new decent job opportunities.

Bridge for Billions, recognized by Forbes 30 Under 30, Ashoka, and Acumen, has worked with more than 100 organizations such as Coca-Cola, Accenture or BMW, and institutions such as the United Nations in the development of entrepreneurship programs that support diverse entrepreneurs in the creation of innovative solutions for today’s most pressing issues. In 7 years, Bridge has grown to a team of more than 50 people from 15 nationalities, with headquarters in Madrid, where most of our team is based; an emerging LatAm HQ in Antigua, Guatemala, with a few team members; and a few people based in different places around the world.

JOB MISSION

Bridge for Billions Backend Developer is responsible for innovating, developing, and maintaining our Product. Collaborating closely with Designers, Researchers, and other Developers to help us achieve the Business’ objectives. This means developing Back-end features in an agile environment and bringing new ideas and solutions to solve our users’ issues.

Tasks

ROLES & CONTRIBUTIONS

Product Development (70%):

As a Backend Developer, your primary responsibility will be to develop new features for the company's products. You will work closely with the product manager, designers, and other developers to identify new features and functionalities that can be added to the product to improve the user experience. You will write clean, efficient, and scalable code using Python, Django, and other related technologies.

Maintenance and Bug-Fixing (20%):

In addition to developing new features, you will be responsible for updating and maintaining existing code. You will work closely with the product manager and other developers to identify and fix any issues with the codebase. You will also ensure that the code is well-documented and maintainable, and that it follows industry-standard security practices.

DevOps and processes Improvement (10%):

As a Backend Developer, you will be a contributor to DevOps and process improvements. You will help ensure that the backend systems are secure, scalable, and performant. You will work closely with the team to implement infrastructure improvements, automate processes, and optimize system performance.

Requirements

Skills we look for this particular role:

  • Professional spoken English.

  • 3 years of professional back-end development experience.

  • 2+ years of Django development experience.

  • Python and Django experience is required.

  • Knowledge of Django ORM and Django Rest Framework or similar.

  • Good understanding of git and GitHub.

  • Experience with back-end tests (pytest).

  • Detail-oriented and committed to writing clean, maintainable code.

  • Bonus:

  • Familiarity with Celery, Docker and other backend tools

  • DevOps practices and AWS.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Transparent salaries and fair compensation structure, mid-range for the social entrepreneurship sector:

  • Compensation of 33,000€ - 42,000€ per year, depending on the profile.

RECRUITMENT PROCESS

  • First 30-45 minutes conversation to meet you, understand your interest in the role, clarify it and explain about the process.

  • Business Case challenge to be resolved within a given time frame (it can vary depending on the position you’re applying for).
