We're looking for a talented Senior Back-End Engineer (Python) to take a leadership and foundational role in the Deel Engage Team. The Deel Engage Team is one of the fastest-growing products in the Deel family and provides an exciting opportunity for someone to make an outsized impact and help lay the groundwork for Deel's venture beyond global payroll into HR, people operations, and day-to-day life in a remote world. In this role, you'll get to:
Own large projects independently and develop impactful pieces of code for thousands of users in over 85+ countries.
Use our building blocks and designs to spec, design the architecture for, and implement new features for the Deel Engage.
Help expand our plugin offerings into new chat systems (Microsoft Teams, Google Chat, etc).
Design and build a way of managing local testing environments and simulating large organizations.
Develop and deploy new API endpoints, both customer-facing and internal.
Get ready to:
Be a part of a small independent team working closely with Backend Engineers and Frontend Engineers
Participate in product planning (from discovery all the way to deployment); we want your input at all stages of the Software Development Lifecycle!
Collaborate! Our teams work together to develop robust new features, API’s, continuously improve our industry-leading products and find and fix any bugs at Deel Speed.
Ensure our customers receive a white-glove experience with our products!
The bits and bytes that you’ll bring to your new team:
5+ years working with a Python server framework (Flask/Django)
Prior experience developing APIs
Prior experience working with Docker
Great experience working with relational database technologies, mainly PostgreSQL, MySQL, and ORM libraries like Django’s ORM or Sequelize.
Willingness to support new engineers in their quests to become experts
Knowledge of optimizing tools and automating workflows.
Contribute to our microservice architectural vision.
Experience with functional and performance test automation.

Have experience with a 24/7 SaaS product, running on a major vendor cloud (AWS).
Have honed your skills working in distributed teams and thrive in a remote work environment.
Have knowledge of the dynamic world of FinTech or HR-Tech.
Have experience working in distributed teams and work environments.
Have experience deploying production servers with k8s.
